Welcome to Pocatello Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute, PA

sports medicine team

Pocatello Orthopaedics was formed in 1995 by Dr. Richard A. Wathne after he completed an orthopaedic surgery sports medicine fellowship. The following year he was joined by Dr. Benjamin Blair, who had just completed an orthopaedic spine surgery fellowship. This allowed us to provide expert comprehensive care in general, trauma, sports medicine, neck and back orthopaedic surgery. With Dr. Wathne focusing on shoulder and knee surgery to include arthroscopic reconstructions, rotator cuff repair, ACL, and total joint replacements. In 2005, Pocatello Orthopaedics welcomed Jeffrey Bray, DPM. The addition of Dr. Bray to our practice allowed us to offer podiatric care to the community. Dr. Bray provides both conservative and surgical treatment for the foot and ankle. Dr. Anthony Joseph joined Pocatello Orthopaedics in 2011, focusing on sports medicine, and bringing an extensive background in primary care sports medicine, with special emphasis on concussion treatment, and helping the athlete return safely to play. He has 17 years of experience at Idaho State University performing conservative management of college athletes. Dr. Gregory Ford has also joined our team of physicians. He specializes in sports injuries, joint replacements, and state of the art hip surgeries. Dr. Ford does a direct anterior approach hip replacement in which no tendons or muscles are cut as they are during traditional approaches. Dr. Ford is the only orthopaedic surgeon in Pocatello performing these advanced surgical techniques. He also specializes in all arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, shoulder stabilization, arthroscopic ACL reconstruction of the knee, and total knee replacements. In July of 2013 we welcomed Brent M. Faure, MS; ATC, a Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer. Faure has been assisting Idaho athletes with the care, prevention and rehabilitation of their sports-related injuries since 1981, and has been key in forming a comprehensive sports medicine program for the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District.

Beginning in September and running through November, Pocatello Orthopaedics will hold a Saturday "bumps and bruises clinic," for any high school athlete, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. This clinic provides athletes with free evaluation of any sports injury. In addition, our physician assistants are available at the clinic for a free evaluation of any sports injury throughout the year. Speak to our office staff for more details.

It is our goal to provide our patients with the highest level of caring and compassionate orthopaedic care. We invite you to peruse our website to learn more about what we have to offer.
